Special reference to the Municipality of Skiathos at the UN High Level Political Forum in New York

Greece presented its second Voluntary National Review (VNR) on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, on 12 July 2022, in the UN High Level Political Forum (HLPF 2022) on Sustainable Development in New York.

Special reference goes to Skiathos, the first and only Greek Municipality to date, that prepared a Voluntary Local Review(VLR) for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, in collaboration with PlanBe, ANAVATHMISI S.A. and the University of the Aegean (p. 23).

The innovative project receives international recognition at the highest possible level (HLPF 2022), following its award at the Best City Awards 2022 and the special tributes in the Greek press.

Greece's second VNR highlights the challenges and strategies associated with three successive crises: the aftermath of the decade-long national recession, with its persistent economic and social issues, the subsequent COVID-19 pandemic, which placed significant strain on the national system health and the economy, as well as the effects of the outbreak of a war on the European continent.
