The "Smart Cities" program for 315 Greek Municipalities opens on July 1st

On July 1st, 315 Greek Municipalities will have the opportunity to participate in the "Smart Cities" program. Minister of Digital Governance Kyriakos Pierrakakis announced that the Greek Municipalities with a population of less than 100 thousand inhabitants will be able to submit proposals for their digital transformation. In this way, the countdown begins for the second phase of the "Smart Cities" program.

The submission of proposals will be done digitally, until October 31, 2022.

The "Smart Cities" program gives the opportunity to all Municipalities to align with the central government regarding the field of digital transformation. The purpose of the program is to upgrade the daily lives of citizens and local communities, by selecting those digital projects that meet the priorities of each Municipality, through a list of projects structured in seven categories:

•     Sustainable mobility

•     Energy saving

•     Reduction of Energy Footprint of Municipal Buildings

•     Improving Municipality Service

•     Improving the Quality of Life

•     Strengthening Local Democracy, Consultation and Transparency

•     Protection against Cyber ​​Attacks and Enhancement of Digital Infrastructures

 

The call is funded with around € 230 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The amounts that are available to Municipalities, range from 210,000 € (for the very small municipalities) to 2,770,000 € (for the municipalities with a population close to 100,000 inhabitants). It is pointed out that each Municipality knows in advance the amount of funding, in order to select the appropriate actions.

 

The 38 actions, from which each Municipality will choose those that meet its needs, are the following:

1.     Intelligent Controlled Parking System (Smart Parking)

2.    Smart MMM stops

3.    Intelligent system to ensure accessibility for people with mobility problems

4.    Smart pedestrian crossings and friendly for people with disabilities

5.    Traffic information systems

6.    Smart trash cans

7.    Lamp connection to a central computer management center

8.    Establishment of Traffic Office and Management of Municipal Vehicles.

9.    Intelligent energy management systems for municipal and school buildings

10.  Intelligent lighting systems inside municipal buildings

11.   Smart City Guide with registration of local companies and promotion of offers

12.  Municipal cemetery management system and digitization of files

13.  Kindergarten management platform, parent information with smart application

14.  Digital Platform for the management of vulnerable groups

15.  Management of indoor and outdoor sports, culture and entertainment venues (lesson planning, parent information, games etc.)

16.  Digital Management Platform for Street Markets

17.  Electronic document handling system and digital signatures system

18.  Electronic payment management system

19.  Provision of telemedicine systems to vulnerable groups for remote diagnosis

20. Electronic ticket management for Cultural and Sports events

21.  Installation of smart air quality measurement systems in the municipality

22. Installation of intelligent systems for measuring water quality (drinking, rivers, lakes and seas in industrial applications, etc.)

23. Digitization and file management system of “ΔΕΥΑ”

24. Intelligent system for warning and dealing with dangers (floods, fire, earthquake, etc.) within the boundaries of the municipality and in accordance with their responsibilities.

25. Smart irrigation system

26. Management system of urban areas.

27. Digitization of municipal library catalogs - Creation of a smart municipal library

28. Digitization of local cultural heritage

29. Development of digital twin

30.Electronic Budget Consulting System, Technical Program

31.  Electronic Regulatory Consulting System

32. Electronic system for the management and organization of the Administration and the operational capacity of the Local Authorities.

33. Implementation of public performance measurement indicators according to ISO 37122, adapted to the Greek conditions

34. Integrated infrastructure for protection against Cyber ​​attacks (Network Firewall, Endpoint Security, etc.) and provision of teleworking system.

35. Central unified platform for management and data collection of digital transformation actions of local authorities.

36. Digital Platform for meetings of collective bodies and committees

37. Creation of interconnection with high speed networks between municipal buildings - infrastructure

38. Electronic Invoicing
